Okay, so I've been following this project's developer over on X (formally Twitter) and it's wonderful to see an idea turned into reality. The project is still young, but wow, it's already really good. I decided to see if it could scrape some of the hardest data to get, which conventional tools could not get: The call logs and inmate data from a local Sheriff/Jail website, which is 1) behind a Google reCaptcha touring test and 2) Running on software stack that requires generated tokens to be re-sent for verification on every request. This tool passed both of those tests, because it doesn't work like a traditional scraper. This is done in the browser, so it's already trusted by the remote system. This is the correct way to deal with sites and systems like this and very happy to see we now have a really good tool for getting that hard to access data. I've been scraping the open web for more than 25 years. Most of the times it's one-off and easy enough to do. But every once in a while, I have a need to gather data from a system that's really hard to scrape and the only good way to do that would be directly from the browser. This will now be my go-to tool for those scenarios. I can't help but wonder if this project could be further built out later to run in headless environments, where the UI is handled on a cloud service, where the screen is streamed to the cloud console. This way, this could be turned into an automation power-house. With some good funding and more devs, this could become a very profitable business and investors would be stupid not to jump on it. Well done, Natalia. Well done! I hope to see this go big time.
