As a competition platform (for example if you were offering prizes) I think this is an okay idea. As a job interview platform, I think it's a terrible idea. 1. It promotes the idea of spec work, which is broadly recognized as bad: <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=why+not+do+spec+work" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.google.com/search?q=...</a> (counterpoint: <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=why+is+spec+work+good" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.google.com/search?q=...</a>) 2. In the real world, a pixel-perfect design is usually not the right thing. The best product implementations (in my opinion) come from an iterative collaboration between design and development. 3. It encourages speed over quality. Admittedly this is a touchy subject for me personally because I am by nature more focused on doing quality work, and I consequently tend to be a bit slower than others. (This caused a lot of heartache during my recent job search. For example, one interviewer's feedback after a coding challenge was "most people just dive in and start coding, but you took time to plan and organize things." That sounded like a compliment to me, but he meant it as a negative!)
