LookAway is a native macOS app which puts your mac in rest mode at regular intervals to help you rest your eyes. It helps in reducing digital eye strain and dry eyes due to prolonged screen use. It's gentle, smart, and fully customizable.
I experienced it and found two minor problems, such as: 1. When Break, the screen cannot be completely obscured by the content of LookAway, and the App content that I am working on can be seen on both sides of the screen. 2. When Break, you can still switch the App window even if you don't click Skip, which is very strange. I sincerely say: apart from being a native macOS App, I haven't experienced any features that will attract me to pay for LookAway. I'm sorry. 🙏 Finally, I want to know: is there any bright spot on the App roadmap that will be updated in the coming year? after all, it can be updated for a year after payment.

Just downloaded this, and it's been helping me immensely! I already have myopia and constantly using digital devices strains my eyes even more. I liked the simple design, easy to customise features and overall is pretty neat. Good!

This app easily brought some of the most significant improvements to not only my eye health, but also my overall health. As a full-time video creator/editor, I'm pretty much glued to my screen day in and day out, and I had been looking for an app that can remind me to take breaks *automatically* and *intelligently*. The key things that set LookAway apart from other similar apps are: 1. It automatically PAUSES the timer when you are away from the computer for a very short period of time 2. It automatically RESETS the timer when you are away from the computer for a longer period of time 3. It automatically pauses the timer when you are in a virtual meeting I tried a variety of apps, from Pomodoro apps to other "take a break" apps, but none of them worked for me because they all had one big problem: They will keep running even if you are away from your Mac, and for those that can detect that you have idled, they don't distinguish the difference between a short break away from the computer (e.g wife calls, need to pee etc) and a longer break away from the computer (e.g. running errands, cooking). Thanks to LookAway being able to make such distinction, it requires zero user intervention. It works in the background and does its job. No need to manually pause it, start/resume it, set the time etc. I feel like the only thing it needs is an option to automatically start a longer break (instead of the 1 minute break) after 3 or 4 (ideally customizable by the user) short breaks! All that is to say, this is an absolutely wonderful app!

Hey @kushsolitary congratulations on the launch. I use the app daily, and will go on every Mac I set-up here on. It's great, well-built and extremely simple. Really thoughtfully built. Looking forward to what you build next!

Great launch! I've struggled with eye strain and cognitive load since a brain injury. I definitely need a reminder to take breaks, and this looks sleek and perfect for the job. Installed!

Congratulations on the launch of LookAway! As someone who spends a lot of time in front of a screen, I can definitely relate to the need for eye relief, but you know some users may prefer shorter or longer breaks depending on their workflow and personal preferences. That's just my suggestion tho haha Are there any upcoming features or enhancements in the pipeline that users can look forward to?
