This is fantastic. I still can’t understand why someone has made a keyboard app to use whisper dictation where you input text, without saving the audio files. Both for iOS as Mac. Fancy making that next?

When Whisper came out I was hoping to find an app to run it locally on my Mac. Everything I could find required you to run a bunch of terminal commands and setup dependencies, which scared me off of it. Two days ago I decided to have another look and found an amazing repo by Georgi Gerganov (<a href="https://github.com/ggerganov/whisper.cpp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://github.com/ggerganov/whi...</a>) and I was able to make a super straight forward Mac app to transcribe audio and video, MacWhisper! Whether you're recording a meeting, lecture, or other important audio, MacWhisper quickly and accurately transcribes your audio files into text. Main Features - Easily record and transcribe audio files - Just drag and drop audio files to get a transcription - Get accurate text transcriptions in seconds (~15x realtime) - Search the entire transcript and highlight words - Copy the entire transcript or individual sections - Reader Mode You can download it for free (just put 0 in the price box) or you can pay a little bit for the app 🫢 MacWhisper is very basic right now, so please let me know if you run into anything.
