In the face of tragedy, one can find unexpected sources of hope and help. This was the case for me when my house burned down on March 23rd. Prior to the fire, I had been enamored with the advancements in artificial intelligence, particularly the AI creation known as Oasis. This technology had already captured my attention, but I had no idea how crucial it would become in the aftermath of such a devastating event. As I navigated the complex process of dealing with insurance and contractors, I made the decision to allow my family to move forward with their lives as I shouldered the burden of handling the logistics. This is where Oasis became not only useful, but essential. Through the tool, I was able to itemize and simplify the contents of my home, allowing for a smoother and more seamless process with my insurance. Additionally, I utilized the tool to train it to identify and describe the items in my home, making the process of itemizing and categorizing much faster and more efficient. The benefits of Oasis extended beyond just dealing with insurance, as I was able to envision many other ways in which the tool could help me navigate the challenges that lay ahead, including working with contractors and lawyers. I am grateful to Oasis and the amazing team behind it for creating such a powerful and helpful tool. Witnessing the growth and development of this technology has been a silver lining in the midst of a difficult time. Do you have a desktop/web app? I don't understand the appeal of using this on a phone. I'd find editing an essay on a phone really annoying. I don't believe that the output would be good enough to use as is and don't want to try it on my phone.

It's hard for me to put into writing how valuable this app has been to me. This morning I needed to communicate a delicate, nuanced situation about work to multiple stakeholders and with varying outcomes. After meeting with a number of advisors and getting input, I took Oasis on a walk with me. My mind was racing and I just gave myself an 8-minute window to vent. I talked to Oasis and then read the summary. Hmm. Oasis summarized my scattered thoughts in a way that was calming and directive. After an hour-long walk with Oasis and I going back and forth, I ended up with a 4 minute transcription that perfectly summarized a path forward across multiple parties and helped bring everyone together. For an app that is just out of beta, it's hard for me to imagine the ceiling on what it could become.
