Huge congrats to the Overlap Studio team on today's launch! I just dropped in a YouTube link and was blown away by how quickly it churned out social clips and a blog post - talk about saving time! Quick question: Are there plans to support video uploads from platforms other than YouTube, or maybe even direct file uploads?

Nice execution on a complex problem. What's next on the roadmap? It'd be nice to give something to the user as they wait for the project to complete, even if it's a scratchpad-like analysis of the content for example. Don't seem to be able to get short clips on free trial, is that by design? Best of luck team!

A vote of encouragement, because at some point this might work and be useful. But right now, I don't feel like it is. And I hope that you makers will take it as contructive criticism. And I'm sure you will, because being backed by YC, this feels a lot like a validation test to me. Tried the pro plan, as per your generous offer and: 1) It simply cuts a video in pieces. I'm not sure how this is different from the big amount of free software out there that does exactly the same. Or maybe the free software does it better because: 2) It doesn't really do a great job a clipping. All my resulting clips where cut in the middle of a word. Meaming that I had to use the editing canvas, exactly like I would do in one of those free apps. Therefore: 3) How did it save me 2 hours of work? Sorry, but it didn't. Clipping a video manually takes at most a couple of minutes. For free. So I'm unsure if I'm missing something, at this point. I was expecting something that automated clipping while making the clips engaging, per your words, but at the moment you can't even add images and text to the clips. Subtitles and articles are a nice addition, but AI misses mispells brand names all the time (Wallafan became Wall of Fun, Wolf On and other stuff like that; X became Next), and the articles generated are 100% AI-sounding, meaning that they need manual editing too. Sharing on Linkedin does not work, at least on free (i tried after I cancel the pro plan): no text is added and the video embedding from your site results in a black frame, not playable. A couple of humble suggestions: - Don't claim that you have the world's best clipping Ai algorithm, if you don't: you create huge expectations, and then even bigger disappointment. - Add a branding feature. Clips normally lose any branding present on the video, and corporate clips without branding are mostly unusable. - Add an Also Known As option for the AI to understand the brand name(s). - Improve the article generation promtping, or better let users set some paramenters, like sentiment, tone etc; or use a different model for that, like Claude for example. - Nobody is expecting cutting perfection, but if all the app does is cutting, bad cutting is really frustrating. It is to say that you need to offer something more. What about a FAQ creation feature? Now, if I had a 10 mins demo video where I show my app features and could automatically split and get an AI generated markdown text FAQ with related clip attached, that would save me some time, even if I had to manually edit the clipping here and there. I also need to add that your FAQ and Contact links on the home lead to nowhere, and the same does the Company link once logged in. Plus maybe I missed the, but I see no ToS and Privacy Policy. The latter particularly is a must-be-there thing, given that you are processing subjected to rights footage, among others. I'm surprised that YCombinator skips such bits, and if I was you I'd be pretty pissed at them. Anyway, please don't shoot the messenger and feel free to disagree with me. I don't remember the amount of times I was wrong, because they are too many to remember. Still supporting it because it is obviously a good idea at MVP stage.

I've been a long-time Overlap user and love their podcast features, but the Overlap Studio is my favorite product of theirs. I HATE cutting YouTube or video clips for content and Overlap makes it so EASY! I get awesome content that I can reshare on socials or in email copy. Awesome work!
