I've seen a slew of AI related mental health apps, and I've asked this question of them all, and I've yet to see a satisfactory answer to it. Pros of AI Therapist: **accessibility **anonymity **consistency(also a con) **data-based analytics Cons of AI Therapist: **Lack of empathy: Human therapists have the ability to understand emotions which is extremely important in mental health treatment, AI relies on the person accurately relaying their feelings/emotions, which often times does not happen. **Consistency, trained on a limited scope, while it can and will evolve, how will it handle a complex person in that moment. Human Therapists can adapt their approach to a patient/person in real-time to the full range of the human experience, not just what is quantified, or coded. **Misdiagnosis: without the nuanced understanding that comes from years of training and human experience, the risk is high. **No Human Connection: a huge part of therapy is the ability to build a relationship with the patient. **Regulatory Dilemmas: Medical/Psychological is amongst the heaviest regulated fields, and its yet to be determined how AI will play a role if at all, and who will be liable for the inevitable misdiagnosis that could potentially harm a person in need. Human therapists are bound by not only legal, but ethical standards/guidelines. Ensuring trust/confidentiality, with AI, while it can be stated that its "secure" history has proven secure/safe/private info, don't necessarily exist in tech world. @cristianmoisei So now that I've laid all that out, my only question. How is Winston different?
